21st century reality check
We are living in an age of creativity where the ability to imagine, think critically, capture and communicate ideas is more important than the ability to memorize or write cursively.

These are the new literacies our children need if they are to live and thrive within an interconnected and global society.

Good news – public education is waking up…
...to the need for a new graduation skill set, central to which is creativity, innovation, communication and collaboration.

Here’s how progressive educators think of it:

  • Demonstrate originality and inventiveness
  • Develop, implement and communicate new ideas
  • Be open and responsive to new and diverse perspectives

Sound like Annie Liebowitz, Rembrandt, Robert Bly, Frank Gehry, Mark Morris or Annie Proulx? You bet.

Today, the need to stimulate and encourage creative thinking among all our students has never been greater. Today, we need creative thinkers who know how to harness self-expression to reflect reality and show us the what if of tomorrow.

Read about the Framework for 21st Century Learning developed by the Partnership for 21st Century Education. The partnership is a leading voice in the development of rigorous academic standards and curricula that connect the classroom to the new dynamics of society -- digital participation, global communication and collaboration, invention and innovation.
